Baby Dedication - May 10, 2026

Sunday May 10, 2026 | Please read this form carefully, answer all questions, and submit the form. Once the form has been processed, you will be contacted by a representative of the church office to confirm all details.

We are so glad that you, as a parent, have decided to make a public commitment to raise your child in the ways of God.  The Bible says in Psalm 127:3, “Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him.”  God’s Word instructs parents to raise and train their children in the ways of the Lord.  Therefore, we encourage parents to publicly commit themselves to godly parenting in a ceremony called “Baby Dedication”.

Since a baby is not old enough to understand commitment to Christ, baby dedication is not related to the child’s personal or eternal salvation.  The ceremony is all about parents committing themselves to God, one another, and their child, vowing that they will raise their child in a Christian home and church.  The ultimate goal is that the parents will lead their child to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as he or she reaches an age of understanding.

FOR YOUR CHILD TO BE DEDICATED DURING A SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE AT PLAINVIEW FIRST ASSEMBLY THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET.

PLEASE READ BEFORE SIGNING THIS DOCUMENT:

1. This application must be filled out and submitted at least 2 weeks before the scheduled baby dedication.

2. Parents living together must be married.

Parents wishing to dedicate their children are agreeing to raise their children in a Christian home environment. Therefore it is necessary that provide a godly example to their children at home.

3. At least one parent must be a Christian and call Plainview First Assembly his/her church home, having regularly attended for at least the last 3 months.

Baby dedication is a special moment that is to be celebrated with your physical and spiritual family. Therefore, we ask that parents call Plainview First Assembly their church home and be active, regular attendees if they desire to have their child dedicated at one of our services.

4. The child being dedicated must be under 24 months old.

Our desire is to dedicate the child at the beginning of their lives; which is why we require the child to be less than 24 months old.

5. It is the parents (or legal guardians) who must dedicate the child. No other family member is allowed to dedicate the child.

Baby Dedication is as much about the parents as it is about the child. As Christian parents who dedicate a child, you are making a promise to the Lord to do everything within your power to raise your child in a Godly way.
